The Özgür Özel team in CHP is preparing to submit approximately 1,000 signatures collected for an extraordinary congress to the party headquarters. If the application is rejected, they will pursue legal action. As attention turns to the court decision expected before July 20, if the congress process does not begin and the injunction measures continue, deputies, mayors, and party officials supporting Özel are expected to leave CHP and move toward a new political formation.
While discussions continue in CHP after the absolute nullity decision, the roadmap to be followed by figures close to Ozgur Ozel has also begun to take shape. It is expected that the demand for an extraordinary congress will be brought to the agenda during the Party Assembly meeting to be held today.
It is stated that those supporting Ozel will remind the meeting that 111 deputies have supported and signed the congress call. According to the news from Sozcu newspaper reporter Basak Kaya, disciplinary proceedings against some names close to Ozel are also among the expected topics.
SIGNATURES COLLECTED FOR THE CONGRESS WILL BE SUBMITTED TO HEADQUARTERS
It has been learned that the group supporting Ozgur Ozel plans to deliver approximately one thousand signatures collected from delegates to CHP Headquarters on Monday.
If the application is not accepted, it is stated that an appeal will be made to the Civil Court of Peace. It is indicated that the court could make a decision within a short time, and if the application is accepted, a call committee may be formed to manage the congress process.
DELEGATE DEBATE CONTINUES
Figures close to Kilicdaroglu argue that due to the absolute nullity decision, the current delegates no longer have legal validity. According to this view, signatures for the congress need to be collected from former delegates. Additionally, ongoing precautionary measures against some delegates are considered to potentially affect the process.
REGULAR CONGRESS OPTION ALSO ON THE TABLE
Another option that may come up in the Party Assembly meeting is starting the regular congress calendar. If such a decision is made, the election process starting from neighborhood delegates, along with district and provincial congresses, is expected to last approximately 6 to 7 months.
The fact that members subject to precautionary disciplinary referral cannot vote in the meeting is also shown among factors that could affect the balance. It is stated that names close to Ozgur Ozel are in the majority in the Party Assembly.
NEW PARTY SCENARIO BEING DISCUSSED
The absolute nullity file regarding CHP is still in the appeals process. It is assessed that after the file moves to the Court of Cassation stage, a decision could be made before the judicial recess starting July 20; otherwise, the process may be delayed until September.
It is stated that the Ozgur Ozel front will also attempt to have the precautionary measure lifted. If the measure is lifted, it is noted that the current administration could retake the helm of CHP; otherwise, different scenarios are being discussed as possibilities.
The most notable among these scenarios is the possibility of forming a new party. According to claims discussed in the corridors, if the possibility of remaining within CHP disappears, it is alleged that deputies, mayors, and provincial and district administrators supporting Ozgur Ozel could leave the party to join a new political formation.
