CHP Chairman Özgür Özel made statements following a meeting with CHP mayors. In his remarks regarding the political agenda, a notable point in Özel's statements was his thanks to the MHP regarding the trustee discussions. Ten parties represented in the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM), including the CHP, submitted a proposal to the TBMM Presidency to end the trustee practice. Following this step, MHP Deputy Chairman and Istanbul MP Feti Yıldız stated, "To prevent trustee appointments with arrests or recent practices, we must calmly revisit the Election Law and the Political Parties Law and discuss this matter without forgetting the presumption of innocence." "YOU WOULD SAVE TURKEY FROM A GREAT SHAME"Özel also referred to Yıldız's words in his speech, saying, "Here, I would like to express my gratitude. A large part of it is to the opposition and a part to the small partner of the government. All of these events stem from the KYK that emerged during the state of emergency. Even while the investigation was being opened, they legitimized the trustee appointments and continued this every two months. All parties in the Parliament, which sometimes fight and have differing opinions, came together. With the proposal signed by the İYİ Party, Saadet, Gelecek DEVA, Demokrat EMEK, Yeniden Refah, and TİP, we submitted the proposal to end this trustee practice to the Parliament, and the day before yesterday, the MHP's deputy chairman stated that this trustee issue could be eliminated through a legal route," he expressed. Özel also stated, "We tell the MHP that if this evaluation is sincere this time, if you can find support from the ruling party for this approach you have requested once, which is your unconditional support for everything your coalition partner does, you would save Turkey from a great shame and free our democracy from a stranglehold."
