CHP leader Özgür Özel criticized the photo taken during President Erdoğan's visit to Malazgirt, in which he posed with HÜDA PAR General Chairman Zekeriya Yapıcıoğlu and military commanders, with harsh words. Özel stated, "The photo was taken to start new debates, create new tensions, and sideline the real issue. I note the shame of that photo and the contradictions among those in the photo in history. Also, know that the tone of that day and the place where it tried to pull CHP is a trap."
Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Özgür Özel attended the Provincial Advisory Board Meeting organized by the Istanbul Provincial Presidency. CHP leader Özgür Özel, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, former CHP leaders Altan Öymen and Hikmet Çetin, members of parliament, party officials, academics, and representatives of civil society organizations attended the meeting held at Istanbul Congress Center. At the meeting, some issues planned to be discussed at the Extraordinary Statute Congress of CHP, which will be held in Ankara on September 6-9, were discussed.
ÖZEL: SOMEONE IS WAITING FOR US TO FALL APART
Speaking at the meeting, Özel said, "Someone is waiting for us to argue, someone is waiting for us to fall apart and let go of their collar, to stop discussing the issues of the people, to stop following the real agenda of Turkey, and to stop determining the real agenda of politics. They are waiting for us to turn against each other and leave them alone with their bad governance. No way, we are united, together, determined, and we are coming to govern this country together."
"HE WENT TO AHLAT NOT TO HOLD A MEETING, BUT TO START NEW DEBATES"
Özgür Özel continued his words as follows: "Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held his first cabinet meeting outside of Ankara after 21 years in Ahlat. He went to Ahlat not to hold a meeting, not to give a message, but to start new debates with the messages he gave. Instead of a speech appropriate to the spirit of the Battle of Malazgirt on its anniversary, he made a speech longing for old polemics and trying to drag us into debates.
"THE PLACE WHERE THEY TRIED TO PULL CHP IS A TRAP"
In the photo, he took HÜDA PAR's general chairman, who should answer many questions, on one side and put military commanders on the other side. He gave a photo. He gave it so that new debates would start, new tensions would arise, and the real issue would be sidelined. I note the shame of that photo, the contradictions among those in the photo, and perhaps how they seem to contradict each other but actually overlap on the same bad intentions in history. I entrust it to my mind and heart. But I also want all my comrades to know that the tone of that day and the place where they tried to pull the Republican People's Party is a trap."
