CHP Group Chairman Özgür Özel held a 6-hour prison work session at Silivri Marmara Closed Prison, meeting with suspended Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and detained politicians. After day-long meetings, Özel left the prison and will be back in Silivri tomorrow for upcoming court hearings.
Özgür Özel, who was temporarily removed from his position as the CHP General Chairman by the decision of the Ankara Regional Court of Justice 36th Civil Chamber, spent an intensive day at the Marmara Closed Prison in Silivri to visit the suspended Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and other detained politicians. After meetings lasting approximately 6 hours, Özel left the prison, and it was reported that he will be in Silivri again tomorrow for the hearings.
WILL BE IN SILIVRI TOMORROW FOR LEGAL PROCEEDINGS
Özgür Özel, who arrived at the Marmara Closed Prison Campus in the morning, met with Ekrem İmamoğlu and other detained mayors and politicians. Özel, who stayed at the prison for about 6 hours and held meetings, left the campus in the evening.
It was learned that Özel will continue his work in Silivri tomorrow to follow the IMM, espionage, and diploma cases in which İmamoğlu is being tried as a defendant.
THEY LAST MET IN MAY
Özgür Özel had last visited the detained mayors and politicians in Silivri on May 29, 2026, the third day of Eid al-Adha. During that visit, Özel had met with 19 people, including Ekrem İmamoğlu, detained mayors, Gezi Park case convicts, and journalists.
