Hassan Nabil Nofal, 17, hit in head last Friday by Israeli teargas bomb.

A Palestinian boy died Tuesday after Israeli forces attacked a rally near a fence between Gaza and Israel last week, the Palestinian health ministry said.

Hassan Nabil Nofal, 17, was hit in the head by an Israeli teargas bomb last Friday in the Bureij refugee camp and martyred today, said ministry's spokesman Ashraf al-Qidra.

More than 250 protesters have been martyred, and thousands more injured, by Israeli army gunfire since Palestinians began holding rallies along the buffer zone last March.

Demonstrators demand the right of Palestinian refugees to return to their homes in historical Palestine from which they were driven from in 1948 to make way for the new state of Israel.

They also demand an end to Israel's 12-year blockade of the Gaza Strip, which has gutted the coastal enclave's economy and deprived its roughly 2 million inhabitants of many basic commodities. -
