Pashinyan's groundbreaking words: Karabakh was not ours

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan described Azerbaijan's Karabakh region's movement to unite with Armenia as a "deadly mistake." Pashinyan stated, "What made it ours? We built schools, kindergartens, factories there, we lived there, but fundamentally, how did it become ours? It was not ours; it was not ours."

In a video published in Armenian media on Sunday, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan argued that Karabakh is not Armenian.

"THE KARABAKH MOVEMENT WAS A FATAL MISTAKE, IT WAS NOT OURS"

Pashinyan said in his speech:

"It should be noted that the Karabakh movement was a fatal mistake for us. What made it ours? Explain to me, what made it ours? We built schools, kindergartens, factories there, we lived there, but fundamentally, how was it ours? It was not ours, it was not ours."

KARABAKH STOOD AT THE CENTER OF CONFLICT FOR YEARS

Internationally recognized as part of Azerbaijan but predominantly inhabited by ethnic Armenians for decades, Karabakh stood at the center of a long-standing conflict between the two South Caucasus countries following the dissolution of the Soviet Union.

Azerbaijan fully regained control over the region in 2023 after a military operation that led to the exodus of the vast majority of Karabakh's Armenian population.
