THEY DO NOT WANT TO BUY BACK
It has been revealed that quarter gold coins known as "Syrian gold" in the market are minted with 21 or 20 karats instead of 22 karats. According to a report by NTV, these gold coins are not minted at the Mint but in the market, and they can be confused with real quarter gold coins in appearance. However, it is almost impossible to exchange them because jewelers do not want to buy back these gold coins.
SHOPPING FROM RELIABLE PLACES
Although jewelers use methods such as the touchstone test to distinguish fake gold, they emphasize that the most important factor to prevent citizens from being victimized is to shop from reliable places. Jeweler Varol Erdoğan stated that these gold coins have a low purity and said, "The Jewelers' Chamber should conduct inspections on this matter. Our citizens must shop from reliable places."
