Scientists have identified that the aging process in the human body accelerates during two critical periods.
In a study conducted at Stanford University, it was determined that there are sudden increases in age-related health issues, including musculoskeletal problems and cardiovascular diseases, during certain periods. It was observed that the changes in the molecules and microorganisms studied do not occur in a gradual, chronological manner. It was found that significant changes tend to occur in the mid-40s and early 60s.
"WE EXPERIENCE DRAMATIC CHANGES AT CERTAIN TIMES"
Geneticist Michael Snyder stated, "We are not changing gradually over time; we are experiencing really dramatic changes at certain times. The mid-40s and early 60s are the periods when these changes are most intense. Moreover, regardless of which class of molecules you look at, this situation does not change."
The lead author of the study, metabolomics expert Xiaotao Shen, expressed, "While this situation is influenced by menopause in women, it indicates that there are larger factors at play for both men and women. Identifying these factors should be a priority for future research."
THE SHARPEST CHANGE OCCURS AT 44 AND 60 YEARS OLD
Researchers noted that the sharpest changes in the aging process occur at an average age of 44 and 60, adding that measures such as increasing exercise could help in maintaining health.
