I have to tell my life story every moment I breathe because no one believes me when I say 'I'm from İzmit.' I'm Turkish, born and raised in İzmit. Yes, our roots go back to Africa, but since we came during the population exchange, we don't know exactly where. When I say, 'My father is from Adapazarı, my mother is a Greek immigrant,' people are left stunned."
