President Erdoğan: There are workers receiving a minimum wage of 50,000 TL and 60,000 TL.

In his statements at the 8th Ordinary Provincial Congress of his party in Bursa, President Erdoğan made striking evaluations regarding the minimum wage figure announced as 22,104 TL.

"IF EMPLOYERS WANT TO PAY MORE..."

Stating that "The main goal of our economic program is to compensate for the loss of welfare that our nation has suffered due to the imbalance of exchange rates and inflation as soon as possible," Erdoğan said, "We announced the minimum wage as 22,104 lira. Some people are bursting with anger. Sorry, whether you burst or not, we will take our steps calculatedly. Although a 30% increase is higher than the Central Bank's inflation target, this is perhaps not a figure that satisfies us, but the number is clear, it seems that this calculation has settled."

Continuing his words, Erdoğan said, "Although 30% is higher than the Central Bank's 2025 inflation target, it is not a figure that satisfies us either. This amount is the lowest figure. If employers want to pay more, no one is stopping them." He continued: "In our metropolitan cities, workers are earning above the minimum wage. Right now, there are workers receiving a minimum wage of 50,000, 60,000 TL. Is there any intervention in these? No. Unless there is a new development in the world and our region, we will achieve our 2025 inflation target. We have made the largest increases in minimum wage in our history. We ask for patience, resilience, and support for our economic program from our nation. By completing 2025 in accordance with our targets, we will bury the difficulties of recent years in history. We want to reduce inflation and increase the purchasing power of our entire nation in a way that will relieve them, and to raise the standard of living while keeping prices stable."
