President and AK Party Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdogan answered questions from parliamentary correspondents on current issues in a brief exchange following his party's group meeting in the Turkish Parliament.
CRITICAL CONTACT WITH TRUMP AT THE NATO SUMMIT
Speaking about the upcoming NATO Summit, one of the hottest topics on Turkey's foreign policy agenda, President Erdogan signaled the expected meeting with United States President Donald Trump. With intense diplomacy expected among allied leaders on the margins of the summit, Erdogan told reporters, \"A one-on-one meeting with Trump at the NATO Summit is highly likely.\"
This will be Trump's first official visit to Turkey in his second presidential term.
LEGISLATIVE EFFORTS FOR A TERROR-FREE TURKEY
Another key topic on President Erdogan's agenda was domestic security and counter-terrorism policies. Responding to questions about the \"Terror-Free Turkey\" process, which is among the government's top priorities and a leading political agenda item, Erdogan pointed to Parliament's working schedule.
Emphasizing determination on steps to establish the legal framework for the process, Erdogan stated, \"We will complete as many legal regulations as we can,\" underlining that intensive efforts will be made to pass relevant bills and legal amendments through Parliament within the legislative year.

Trump had confirmed his attendance at the summit in Ankara, saying, \"I will be going to Turkey soon.\" This will be Trump's first official visit to Turkey in his second presidential term.
