President Erdoğan will make the biggest surprise raise for the most oppressed group.

12.10.2024 12:40

As the countdown continues for the pension and minimum wage increase, a surprising claim has emerged. In economic circles, it is being discussed that President Erdoğan may implement an additional improvement that exceeds the anticipated figure for retirees, who are struggling under the inflation rates.

While millions of people are curious about the increase in the minimum wage, civil servant and pensioner salaries, everyone is looking for an answer to the question "How much will the 2025 salary increases be?" A surprising claim has emerged. It is being discussed in the corridors that President Erdoğan may make a 'surprise' regarding the increase rate for pensioners' salaries.

"HE MAY ADD AT LEAST 5 POINTS"

Cem Küçük, a columnist known for his closeness to the government, made a statement that confirms these claims. Stating that the situation of pensioners has not been good for one and a half to two years, Küçük wrote, "I believe our President will make improvements for pensioners. Tayyip Bey can add at least 5 points."

"THE AK PARTY PAID THE PRICE IN THE ELECTION"

In his statement, Küçük noted that among pensioners, there are those who did not go to the polls and those who voted for the opposition due to their poor economic situation, saying, "The AK Party paid the price for this in the election. Currently, a teacher earns 48,000 TL. A retired teacher earns 28,000 TL. There is a 70% difference in between. Of course, a working teacher should earn 48,000 TL, but a retired teacher should earn at least 35,000 TL to solve the problem. Therefore, I expect a one-time increase or an improvement for pensioners from Mr. Erdoğan," he stated.

INFLATION EXPECTATIONS

On the other hand, the Central Bank announced the results of the Market Participants Survey. The market's inflation expectation for October was 2.39%. Participants predicted inflation of 1.96% in November and 1.68% in December. The year-end inflation target was set at 44.11%. Based on these expectations, the 6-month inflation concerning pensioners and civil servants is calculated to be around 15%. The Central Bank's year-end inflation target was set at 38%, with an upper limit of 42%. Economists stated that the inflation in September, which exceeded expectations, could lead to surpassing the Central Bank's target.

PENSION INCREASE SCENARIO

Worker pensioners receive an increase based on the 6-month inflation rate. If this scenario occurs, the year-end increase rate for pensioners will be around 15%.

CIVIL SERVANT INCREASE SCENARIO

Civil servants and retired civil servants will obtain an inflation difference of 4.5% if the 6-month inflation is around 15%. Additionally, civil servants have a 6% increase right from the 7th Term collective agreement. In this case, civil servants' salaries will increase by around 11%.
