Workers who were dismissed from their jobs at the Çiğli Municipality in İzmir held a press conference in front of the CHP Headquarters, demanding their reinstatement.
THEY HAVE BEEN FIGHTING FOR THEIR RIGHTS FOR 11 MONTHS
Speaking on behalf of the group in front of the Headquarters, worker Hale Ören Özdinçer stated that they were dismissed from the Çiğli Municipality, where they had worked for years, without any justification and that they have been fighting for their rights for 11 months.
"OUR VOICE WAS IGNORED, OUR LABOR WAS TURNED AWAY"
Özdinçer said, "We knocked on every door to make our voices heard, but our voices were ignored, and our labor was turned away. That’s why we set out. We walked shoulder to shoulder from İzmir to Ankara for 10 days." Emphasizing that they are not only in front of the party's sign but also in front of the conscience of the people, Özdinçer stated, "We, 16 women workers, want our jobs back. We want this mistake to be corrected without wasting more time and causing more grievances."
THEY WILL WAIT UNTIL THEY MEET ÖZGÜR ÖZEL
After the statement supported by members of the Labor Women’s Association, the group protested the dismissals with slogans and applause. The women workers stated that they would wait in front of the Headquarters until they meet with CHP Chairman Özgür Özel regarding their re-employment processes.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Sixteen women workers who were dismissed from the İzmir Çiğli Municipality about 11 months ago had staged various protests for their reinstatement. On May 1, the women workers decided to march to the CHP Headquarters, and after starting their journey from Çiğli, most of which they covered on foot, they reached Ankara yesterday.
