Russian President Vladimir Putin commented on the 20-point Gaza plan presented by U.S. President Donald Trump, saying, "It may be unexpected for you, but if it contributes to a two-state solution, Russia is generally ready to support these. I think it would be better for everything to be handed over to the Palestinian administration."
Russian President Vladimir Putin, who participated in the 22nd session of the Valdai Discussion Club, one of Russia's important international think tanks, addressed the ongoing attacks by Israel on the Palestinian people.
"THE SITUATION IN GAZA IS A TERRIBLE EVENT IN MODERN HUMANITY'S HISTORY"
Criticizing Israel's occupation of Gaza and its attacks on the people of Gaza, Putin stated, "Even the pro-Western United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said, 'Gaza has become the world's largest children's graveyard.' What could be more tragic and sad than this? The situation in Gaza is a terrible event in modern humanity's history."
TRUMP'S GAZA PLAN: READY TO SUPPORT IF IT CONTRIBUTES TO A TWO-STATE SOLUTION
Emphasizing that Russia's proposal for resolving the Palestinian crisis has not changed, Putin stated, "In our view, the most fundamental solution is the establishment of a Palestinian state." He noted that they would support President Donald Trump's proposal to leave the resolution of the Palestinian crisis to the Palestinian administration, adding, "As for President Trump's proposals regarding Gaza, it may be unexpected for you, but if it contributes to a two-state solution, Russia is generally ready to support them."
"IT WOULD BE BETTER FOR EVERYTHING TO BE TRANSFERRED TO THE PALESTINIAN ADMINISTRATION"
The Russian leader continued his remarks as follows: "As far as I understand, this plan envisions the transfer of administration to the Palestinian authority. I think it would be better for everything to be transferred to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and the Palestinian administration."
