HE VISITED THE NUCLEAR POWER PLANT
According to a statement from the Kremlin, Putin met with representatives of volunteer organizations in the region and spoke with Acting Governor of Kursk Region Aleksandr Hinshteyn. Putin also held a meeting with the mayors of cities in the Kursk region in the city of Kurchatov and toured the under-construction Kursk Nuclear Power Plant-2.
ATTACKS ON UKRAINIAN MONUMENTS
In a meeting with volunteers in Kursk to help the local residents after the attacks, Putin thanked the volunteers for their "important and noble" work. Stating that Ukraine is still trying to advance towards the Russian border, Putin referred to the attacks carried out by the Ukrainian army on World War II monuments.

Putin stated, "This situation gives us every basis to say that these people are individuals with a neo-Nazi ideology. They would even come second in a fool contest. Why? Because they are fools. They show who they are by targeting (the monuments)." Putin emphasized that monuments related to Russia are being dismantled in Ukraine and Western countries with the aim of "erasing memory." Expressing his confidence that Russia will achieve all its goals, especially the unity of its people, Putin said, "Today, the whole country is one team. This is the unconditional success of all our efforts. These are the necessary conditions to achieve all our goals."
UKRAINE HAD CARRIED OUT A SURPRISE ATTACK ON KURSK
The Ukrainian army entered the Kursk region in southern Russia on August 6, 2024, opening a new front in the war. The Ukrainian army quickly advanced in the area where fierce clashes with the Russian army were taking place, taking control of an area of 1,268 square kilometers in a short time. Chief of the General Staff of Russia Valery Gerasimov informed President Vladimir Putin on April 26 that the Kursk region had been completely liberated from the Ukrainian army and that the Ukrainian army had been defeated in the region.
