The Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Numan Kurtulmuş, has called for an extraordinary session on August 15th due to the visit of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to Turkey and his speech at the Assembly. Security measures around the Assembly and its premises will be heightened during the extraordinary session. In addition, only invited guests will be allowed to visit the Assembly. TO ADDRESS ISRAEL'S ATTACKSThe General Assembly will be opened by Speaker Kurtulmuş tomorrow at 15:00. Following Kurtulmuş's opening speech, Palestinian President Abbas will take the podium. According to information received, Abbas wanted to deliver his speech from his seat due to health issues, but it was decided that he will speak from the podium after discussions. Abbas will address Israel's attacks in Gaza and other Palestinian territories. PRESIDENT ERDOĞAN WILL ALSO BE PRESENT IN THE HALLAbbas's speech is expected to last approximately half an hour. The speech will be simultaneously translated into English, Turkish, and French. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will also be present in the General Assembly Hall to listen to Abbas's speech. It is expected that ministers will accompany President Erdoğan as well. PALESTINE-THEMED EXHIBITION TO BE VISITEDAfter the special session of the General Assembly, President Erdoğan, Palestinian President Abbas, and Speaker Kurtulmuş will visit the Palestine-themed photo exhibition in the Honor Hall. Speaker Kurtulmuş will then meet with President Abbas and his delegation in the Marble Hall of the Assembly. Inter-delegation meetings will be held at the Parliamentary Presidency.
