An operation was carried out by the Istanbul Police Department's Narcotic Crimes Division and Organized Crime Division as part of the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office's Smuggling, Narcotics, and Economic Crimes Investigation Bureau.
18 PEOPLE INCLUDING ÜMİT KARAN ARE DETAINED
In the operation, 18 suspects, including former football player Ümit Karan, were detained. After the procedures at the police station, blood and hair samples were taken from the suspects who were taken to the Forensic Medicine Institution for analysis. After their procedures, the suspects were referred to the courthouse.
ARREST OF KARAN REQUESTED
Ümit Karan, whose statement was completed by the prosecutor's office, was referred to the peace criminal court with a request for arrest for the crimes of 'Selling Narcotic or Stimulant Substances Without a License', 'Offering for Sale - Giving, Transporting, Transferring, Storing, Purchasing, Accepting, Possessing' under TCK/188.
