The brown bear, taken under treatment by teams, will be released back into its natural habitat after it recovers.
A brown bear that came down near a residential area in search of food became stranded in a stream in Köknar neighborhood of Trabzon's Çaykara district.
Residents who noticed the bear, believed to have rolled down a steep slope and fallen into the stream where it got stuck between rocks, notified the gendarmerie and teams from the Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks.
FOUND UNCONSCIOUS
Seeing the bear motionless, the citizens began efforts to remove the animal from its location until the teams arrived at the area.
Residents who entered the water removed the unconscious bear from between the rocks and placed it on a tarpaulin. Then, with joint effort, they pulled the bear from the stream bed up the steep slope.
THEY BROUGHT IT UP THE SLOPE WITH A TARPAULIN
Despite the challenging terrain conditions, the bear was brought to a safe point through the ongoing effort. The animal rescued by the citizens was then handed over to the teams from the Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks.
The bear was taken by pickup truck to the Provincial Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks, where it was placed under examination, care, and treatment.
IT WILL BE RELEASED INTO THE WILD AFTER ITS TREATMENT
Officials stated that after the bear's necessary checks and treatment are completed, it will be released back into its natural habitat.
Although local residents had previously experienced unease due to bears entering their highland and hamlet houses, it drew attention that they mobilized to rescue the stranded bear.
