Former Fenerbahçe President Sadettin Saran and presenter Ela Rümeysa Cebeci will appear before a judge today on charges of drug trafficking. While at least 10 years in prison is sought for each of the two names, footage taken as Saran entered the courthouse also drew attention. Those who saw Saran's new look after changing his image by growing a mustache were surprised.

Former Fenerbahçe President Sadettin Saran and presenter Ela Rümeysa Cebeci will appear before a judge today for the first time as part of the drug investigation against them. In the case to be heard at the Istanbul 4th High Criminal Court, the two individuals will be tried on charges of "trading in or supplying narcotic or stimulant substances."

AT LEAST 10 YEARS' IMPRISONMENT SOUGHT FOR BOTH INDIVIDUALS

In the indictment prepared, it was requested that Sadettin Saran and Ela Rümeysa Cebeci each be sentenced to no less than 10 years in prison. At the first hearing of the case, the defendants are expected to give their defenses regarding the charges against them.

WHATSAPP MESSAGES ENTERED THE CASE FILE

Within the scope of the investigation, WhatsApp correspondence alleged to have taken place between Saran and Cebeci was also included in the case file. It was claimed that the messages in question did not only concern drug use but also demonstrated the intent to obtain narcotic substances.

SARAN HAD DENIED THE CHARGES

It had been stated that the cocaine test performed on hair samples taken from Sadettin Saran within the scope of the investigation returned a positive result. Saran, who denied the charges against him in his statement to the prosecutor's office, argued that the test result may have been caused by sedatives he used during the presidential election period. Saran had been released on December 20, 2025, subject to judicial control measures.

CEBECİ HAD REMAINED IN PRISON FOR MORE THAN 4 MONTHS

Ela Rümeysa Cebeci, who was arrested on December 17, 2025, within the scope of the investigation, had remained in prison until April 24, 2026. Cebeci, who was stated to have tested positive in the drug test conducted at the Council of Forensic Medicine, had handed her mobile phone over to the authorities along with its password. In her statement, Cebeci admitted to using drugs but denied the charges that she sold narcotic substances.

ALL EYES TURNED TO THE FIRST HEARING

In the trial that will begin today at the Istanbul 4th High Criminal Court, the defenses of the two defendants and the evaluation of the evidence in the file are expected. The interim ruling the court will issue at the end of the hearing is also awaited with curiosity.
