The father Arif Güran and brother Baran Güran of 8-year-old Narin Güran, who went missing and was found dead in Diyarbakır, protested the court's decisions in Şişhane Square and called for justice.
Narin Güran's father Arif Güran and her brother Baran Güran protested the court's decision at Şişhane Square.
In the case of 8-year-old Narin Güran, whose lifeless body was found in Eğertutmaz Creek 19 days after she went missing in Diyarbakır, the court sentenced mother Yüksel Güran, brother Enes Güran, and uncle Salim Güran to aggravated life imprisonment. While the court's decision was upheld by the Court of Cassation, the 4-year and 6-month prison sentence given to Nevzat Bahtiyar was overturned on the grounds that the act was evaluated under 'aid to qualified intentional homicide'. In the retrial of Nevzat Bahtiyar, the court sentenced the defendant to 17 years in prison for the crime of 'aiding qualified intentional homicide'.
NARİN'S FATHER AND BROTHER PROTEST DECISION AT ŞİŞHANE SQUARE
Meanwhile, a new development occurred regarding the issue. Grieving father Arif Güran and brother Baran Güran came to Şişhane Square to protest the court's decision. Making a statement there, the father and son called for justice in Narin Güran's case and reacted to the decision. Some individuals who came to support the family showed support for Arif Güran with banners claiming the suspect was Nevzat Bahtiyar and calling for the freedom of family members who received prison sentences.
"THE REASON WE CAME HERE IS JUSTICE FOR NARIN"
In his statement at the square, Narin's father Arif Güran said, "The reason we came here is justice for Narin. We are here for Narin's justice. Not only here, but wherever there is justice for Narin anywhere in Turkey, I will go there. Even if the punishments are severe for my daughter's justice, since the court has not given us a definitive result on where my daughter was murdered and who murdered her, we are forced to seek justice for our own daughter. Today, they didn't only lose Narin's rights; they destroyed the rights of the entire family. They lost the rights of unborn children."
NARİN'S BROTHER BARAN GÜREN: WE ARE NOT CRUEL ENOUGH TO KILL OUR OWN DAUGHTER
Narin's brother Baran Güran said in his statement, "One of the biggest reasons we set out on this path is first for Narin. So that Narin's truth may come to light. So that the real perpetrator gets the punishment they deserve. Our hearts are burning. We are truly not a family savage enough to kill our own daughter. We are not a criminal family that would harm our own children and then go and blame neighbors. If you look at the pictures of all our children, you can see from their clothes and the happiness on their faces. Above all, we say justice for Narin and then for her family. Of course, in the process we've been through, the mother, brother, and uncle received aggravated life sentences. They cannot explain the reason for this legally, nor can they give us an official explanation. Because none of the so-called material evidence they identified to justify the punishment is concrete. I am calling out to the good people of my country here. We are truly not cruel enough to kill our own daughter. Have you ever seen murderers holding a vigil for justice? Have you ever seen murderers making their voices heard every day in a country? From the very first day, we have left no province untouched in this country."
