Saudi Arabia's Ambassador to Yemen Mohammed Al Cabir announced that the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait, which is of strategic importance for world trade, has been cleared of the Houthis. Al Cabir's statement, in which he described the development as a victory for Yemenis and Arabs, came after Yemeni government forces launched a military operation in the region. The Houthis have not yet made a statement.

Saudi Arabia's Ambassador to Yemen Mohammed Al Jaber stated that the Bab al-Mandab Strait has been cleared of the Houthis.

In a post from his account on the social media platform of US-based company X, Al Jaber said, "The Bab al-Mandab Strait has been cleansed of the remnants of the terrorist Houthi militia."

Stating that this was a victory for all Yemenis and Arabs, Al Jaber did not provide any other details in his statement.

The Houthis have not yet made any statement regarding Al Jaber's claim.

MORNING OPERATION HAD BEEN LAUNCHED

Meanwhile, a Yemeni military source told an Anadolu Agency (AA) correspondent that government forces launched a military operation this morning with the aim of securing control of the Bab al-Mandab Strait and Mayun Island, which is located in a commanding position over the strait.

The source, who requested anonymity, noted that the Amalika Forces affiliated with government forces and the Homeland Shield forces took part in the operation, and that the coalition supporting the legitimate government in Yemen also provided support to these forces.

HOUTHI ATTACKS

The Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen have for some time been carrying out attacks with ballistic missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) on Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, and many other regions.

The General Authority of Civil Aviation of Saudi Arabia (GACA) announced yesterday that 3 people were killed and 36 injured in Houthi attacks on Abha International Airport in the southern city of Abha and King Khalid International Airport in the capital Riyadh.
