In the investigation in Istanbul into international forex fraud, it was determined that those who wanted to be hired and to leave their jobs at call centers established in Beyoğlu and Şişli were subjected to a 'lie detector' test. It was learned that the suspects asked employees whether they had acquaintances in the police or the press and whether they transferred the proceeds to them. Of the 97 suspects taken into custody in the operation, 36 were arrested.
In the investigation conducted by the teams of the Istanbul Police Department Cyber Crime Combating Branch, under the coordination of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was determined that international-level forex fraud was being carried out through call centers operating under the guise of tourism and consultancy companies in Beyoğlu and Şişli. It was determined that the suspects created separate desks according to different countries and languages, directed the people they called to fake investment platforms with the promise of high profits, and transferred the deposited money to the gang's crypto accounts.
THEY TESTED THEM WITH A POLYGRAPH
During the work carried out by the teams, it emerged that those who wanted to start and leave jobs at the call centers were connected to a polygraph and their answers were checked. It was learned that the suspects also subjected employees to the test from time to time. According to the allegation, it was stated that those connected to the polygraph were asked the questions 'Do you know any police officers?', 'Do you know any members of the press?' and 'Are you transferring the earnings here to yourself?'. It was determined that the results of the tests carried out with cables attached to different points of the human body were recorded name by name.
97 SUSPECTS HAD BEEN DETAINED
After the completion of the work, the teams carried out an operation on October 6 at the identified addresses. During the operation, 97 suspects were detained. Following their procedures at the police station, 36 suspects, including 2 people who used the polygraph, were referred to the courthouse and arrested. While 25 of the suspects were released under judicial control conditions, 34 were referred to a removal center. The 2 people in custody, however, were released after their procedures at the police station.
