In Mersin, "racehorse chip" was found in the meat served at the municipal soup kitchen. According to a report in the local press, 213 kilograms of meat identified as being made from horse meat were destroyed, and an investigation has been launched regarding the incident.
A scandalous truth emerged during inspections related to the meals prepared for distribution to those in need at a municipal soup kitchen in Mersin. An investigation was initiated after digital chips used for racehorses were found in the distributed meat dishes, revealing that the meat was horse meat.
A HORSE CHIP WAS FOUND IN THE MEAT
According to the news from Gazete3, a local newspaper in Afyon; the teams conducting routine inspections at the soup kitchen discovered a hard object in the served meat dish. Upon examination, it was determined that this object was a digital chip used for the identification and tracking of professional racehorses. Following this, all meat products in the soup kitchen were placed under protection.
213 KILOS OF HORSE MEAT DESTROYED
In the analyses conducted by the teams from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry on the samples, it was confirmed that the meat was from single-hoofed animals. The horse meat dishes, determined to weigh a total of 213 kilograms, were destroyed by being lime-treated under the supervision of the teams due to being unsuitable for human health.
AN INVESTIGATION HAS BEEN INITIATED
Following the incident, the municipal administration and relevant institutions launched a large-scale investigation. While the company that supplied the meat and the intermediary institutions were taken under examination, a criminal complaint was filed against those responsible.
