It was claimed that Prosecutor Muhammed Çağatay Kılıçarslan, who shot female judge Aslı Kahraman in the 23rd Criminal Chamber of the Regional Court of Appeals in Kartal, Istanbul, previously served in the Women's Violence Prevention Bureau of the Anadolu Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
A.K. (45), a female judge serving in the Istanbul Regional Court of Appeals, was shot by prosecutor M.Ç.K. (33) with a firearm during a dispute in her office at the court.
THE INJURED JUDGE IS NOT IN LIFE-THREATENING CONDITION
Upon notification, police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. The injured judge was taken to the hospital after the initial intervention by the medical teams. It was learned that the judge, who was injured in the groin, is not in life-threatening condition and will undergo surgery.
PROSECUTOR TAKEN INTO CUSTODY
An investigation has been initiated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the incident. Prosecutor M.Ç.K., who was taken into custody, was brought to the Kartal District Police Department's Public Order Bureau for processing. It was reported that the prosecutor, who is facing charges of "attempted murder," will be transferred to the Istanbul Courthouse tomorrow.
In the investigation, it was learned that the suspect prosecutor and the judge had previously served together in the criminal court at the Anadolu Courthouse.
ALLEGATION OF "SERVING IN THE WOMEN'S VIOLENCE PREVENTION BUREAU"
Meanwhile, a striking allegation has emerged. Journalist Halil Sadri Yılmaz claimed that the prosecutor served in the Women's Violence Prevention Bureau of the Anadolu Chief Public Prosecutor's Office between 2022 and 2024.
