An indictment has been prepared against Hızır Çelik, who strangled his ex-wife Hanım Biçer with a scarf in Antalya, for intentional murder against the woman and her divorced spouse, as well as for theft by benefiting from the death of a person. In his statement, Çelik said, "I don't understand how it happened. Somehow, I grabbed her throat with my hands. I don't remember the rest."

In the Muratpaşa district of Antalya, Hızır Çelik, who killed his ex-wife with a scarf, stated in his defense, "I didn't understand how it happened. Somehow, I grabbed her throat with my hands. I don't remember the rest," he said.

KILLED BY STRANGLING WITH A SCARF

The incident occurred on September 11, 2025, around 01:00, in the entrance floor of a three-story apartment on Örnekköy Street in the Güzeloba neighborhood of Muratpaşa. Hanım Biçer (30), who had moved to her new home about a week before the incident, came home with her ex-husband Hızır Çelik (33). A dispute between the two escalated into a fight. Çelik strangled his ex-wife Biçer with a scarf and then covered her face with a pillow.

"I KILLED MY WIFE, I WILL GO AND TURN MYSELF IN"

Three hours after leaving the house, Hızır Çelik called Biçer's brother about 16 hours later, saying, 'I killed my wife, I will go and turn myself in,' and hung up the phone. Biçer's relatives reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center. Upon the notification, police and medical teams were dispatched to the address. The homicide bureau teams that entered the house determined that Hanım Biçer had lost her life. Biçer's lifeless body was taken to the morgue of the Antalya Forensic Medicine Institution for an autopsy after the examination by the crime scene investigation teams and the prosecutor.

While the teams continued their investigations, Hızır Çelik went to the Döşemealtı Police Station and turned himself in. In his initial statement, Çelik said that his wife threatened him by saying, "I will tell your family that we are in contact again," and demanded money, which led to the argument and ultimately to the strangulation.

ENTRANCES TO THE HOUSE CAPTURED ON SECURITY CAMERA

Hanım Biçer's last moments were captured on security camera. The footage showed Biçer and Çelik entering the site, Biçer opening the door, and the two entering the house, after which Çelik was seen leaving the house alone after a while. The moments when Çelik, who left the house with a bag in his hand, looked inside the house after going down the stairs, and then left the site and walked away were recorded by the camera.

After completing his statement at the Homicide Bureau, Hızır Çelik was sent to the courthouse after a health check. It was noted that he stated in his testimony that they went to the house together, and that he lost control when Hanım Biçer brought up old issues and committed the act. After his procedures, Çelik was arrested by the Magistrate's Court to which he was brought.

Moreover, it was stated that Hızır Çelik and Hanım Biçer had separated 8 months ago and that they had two sons aged 5 and 7.

"DYING IN THIS DARK SEA IS BETTER THAN DYING EVERY DAY"

The indictment prepared against Hızır Çelik for 'intentional murder against a woman and his divorced wife' and 'theft by benefiting from a person's death' was accepted by the 3rd Heavy Criminal Court. The statements of the defendant Hızır Çelik at the prosecutor's office were also included in the indictment. Hızır Çelik stated in his testimony that on September 11, 2025, his ex-wife Hanım Biçer sent him a video via WhatsApp saying, 'Dying in this dark sea is better than dying every day.' Following this, he called his ex-wife but did not receive a response, noting that at that time he was at his girlfriend's house with their children, and he went to the beach to meet his ex-wife after leaving the children with his girlfriend.

"WE WENT TO THE HOUSE I RENTED FOR MY EX-WIFE"

Çelik stated that he talked to his ex-wife there, saying, "She told me about problems with her family and children. I also talked about how everything would get better. I convinced her to take me to the house I rented for her and my children from the real estate agent. She invited me inside. I rented the house for her to stay with my children while I would go abroad without her family's knowledge. We had started to see each other occasionally. We were hiding our reunion from our families due to their problems. However, we had been together for 6-7 months. On the day of the incident, while we were at home, my girlfriend sent me a photo with the children. Seeing this photo, my ex-wife started an argument. 'You are deceiving me, you won't give me the children, you will marry this woman, either give me money or I will tell my family and yours,' she said. She insulted my manhood and honor. Although I tried to calm her down, she did not calm down and attacked me," he said.

"I GRABBED HER THROAT, I DON'T REMEMBER THE REST"

Regarding the moment of the incident, Çelik said, "I didn't understand how it happened. Somehow, I grabbed her throat with my hands. I don't remember the rest. After that, I wrapped the scarf that was on the bed around her neck. I took my ex-wife's phone and left the house. I broke the phone with a stone and threw it in a trash can I don't remember with tissues and went home. After the photo came, I had asked my girlfriend to take the children from her house to my house and put them to bed. When I got home, I told my girlfriend that I had fought with someone I argued with on the way and that I had killed him, and I asked her to leave the house," he said.

Çelik stated that he confessed the murder to his brother, saying, "Early the next morning, I went to the construction site to burn the photos from my wedding with my ex-wife and our marriage certificate. I told my brother Rıdvan that I had killed my ex-wife and left from there. I went to the Yeniköy Police Station and confessed my crime. I had no intention to kill. The events happened without me understanding how. I regret it," he said.

"I AM THE COMPLAINANT"

The victim's brother, Resul Biçer, stated in his testimony that his sister Hanım Biçer had been married to the suspect Hızır Çelik for about 8 years and that they had divorced amicably 8-9 months ago, and on the day of the incident, Hızır Çelik's brother Rıdvan Çelik called him and said that Hızır had come to him and said he had killed Hanım. Following this, Biçer said he called the 112 Emergency Call Center, and later police teams called him to inform him that his sister had died. Biçer stated that he was complaining about the person or persons who killed his sister.

Rıdvan Çelik, who stated that on the day of the incident, his brother Hızır Çelik contacted him, said that while he was working at a construction site in Döşemealtı, Hızır came to him and said he had killed his ex-wife.
