The new school year begins on Monday, September 8th. On the first day in Istanbul, schools will provide education between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM.
The Istanbul Governorship has made changes to the school hours to prevent traffic congestion that will occur on Monday, September 8.
In a statement from the governorship, it was said, "To prevent possible disruptions in traffic on the first day of school, education will take place between 10 AM and 3 PM."

There was also a statement from the Minister of National Education, Yusuf Tekin. Tekin said, "We spoke with our Provincial Director of National Education in Istanbul; on the first day of school, to prevent chaos, schools will start at 10 AM and end at 3 PM."
2025-2026 ACADEMIC YEAR CALENDAR
- The first term in schools will start on Monday, September 8, and end on Friday, January 16, 2026.
- The first term mid-term break will be held between November 10-14.
- The semester break will start on Monday, January 19, 2026, and end on Friday, January 30, 2026.
- The second term will start on Monday, February 2, 2026, and will be completed on Friday, June 26, 2026.
- The mid-term break for the second term will start on March 16, 2026, and end on Friday, March 20, 2026.
