As part of the steps to combat inflation, a critical regulation that will directly affect fuel prices has been implemented. With the Presidential Decree published in the Official Gazette, the Special Consumption Tax (SCT) on diesel has been made staggered, and the 'esel mobile system' for diesel has been abolished. While the SCT on diesel has been zeroed until the end of this month, a discount of 9.29 TL has been reflected at the pump.
With the Presidential Decree published in the Official Gazette, the Special Consumption Tax (SCT) on diesel has been reduced to zero until the end of August, and the sliding scale system (eşel mobil) has been abolished for this fuel type.
DIRECT IMPACT ON PUMP PRICES
With the decision taken, the diesel SCT, which was 7.74 TL per liter, has been reduced to zero until the end of August. The impact of this situation on pump sales prices, including VAT, has been realized as a discount of 9.29 TL. As of today, drivers going to stations will be able to purchase diesel with this significant discount.
HOW WILL THE GRADUAL SCT INCREASE BE APPLIED?
Within the scope of the regulation, no SCT will be collected on diesel for the remaining days of August. However, starting from September, a gradual increase system of 3 lira per month will be implemented until the end of the year.
Accordingly, the SCT amount drivers will pay will gradually increase as 3 lira in September, 6 lira in October, 9 lira in November, and 12 lira in December. This determined SCT amount will be applied as 13.9006 lira as of January 1, 2027, and thus, it will return to its original level before the sliding scale application.
SLIDING SCALE SYSTEM ABOLISHED FOR DIESEL
Due to the SCT amounts being adjusted again and gradually according to a specific schedule, the "sliding scale system," which has been implemented for a long time to avoid reflecting fluctuations in global fuel prices to the consumer, has been officially abolished for diesel-type fuels.
On the other hand, it was emphasized in the published Presidential Decree that no changes were made to the existing sliding scale system application for gasoline and LPG-type products, and the current system will continue unchanged for these fuel types.
