Due to the precautions that have not been taken for years, time is running out. The most reasonable step now is to leave the city." Üşümezsoy stated, "Has Celal Şengör made a self-criticism of what he has told the public? Celal is not a teacher. The earthquakes have now fallen silent."
Professor Dr. Şener Üşümezsoy, who predicted the 6.2 magnitude earthquake that occurred in Silivri, Istanbul, on Wednesday, reacted to Celal Şengör, who said, "The big Istanbul earthquake is coming," by stating, "Did Şengör make a self-criticism of what he told the public? Celal is not a teacher."

Şengör had warned about the "expected big Istanbul earthquake." Stating that the precautions taken over the years have been insufficient, Celal Şengör said in a statement following the earthquakes that occurred on April 23, "Istanbul is in the mouth of the cannon. Due to the measures that have not been taken for years, time is running out. Now the most logical step is to leave the city."

Participating in the Taksim Square program broadcast on TGRT News, Üşümezsoy emphasized that the expected earthquake in the 'Marmara Sea' has occurred and that there will no longer be a big earthquake, reacting strongly to those who claimed that "the big Istanbul earthquake is on the way."

Highlighting that the 6.2 magnitude earthquake in Silivri was the last major tremor, Şener Üşümezsoy stated, "From now on, earthquakes have fallen silent. I know the Marmara Sea like the palm of my hand. The North Anatolian fault is a laterally moving system." Üşümezsoy expressed, "Did Celal Şengör make a self-criticism of what he told the public?
