06.04.2020 23:27

Anadolu Agency marks 100th year of its news production and dissemination on April 6, 2020.

The premier, parliament speaker and economy and energy ministers of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) congratulated Anadolu Agency on Monday as Turkey's flagship news agency marks its 100th anniversary.

"I sincerely believe that in light of the experiences of Anadolu Agency's century-old past, it will fulfill its duty of informing the public by preserving its reliable and principled journalism," said Prime Minister Ersin Tatar in a statement.

He also congratulated the agency's Director-General Senol Kazanci and all its staff.

Parliament Speaker Teberruken Ulucay said in a separate message to Kazanci: "We are celebrating with great pride the 100th anniversary of our Anadolu Agency, one of the reputable and numbered agencies not only in Turkey but also the world."

He said Anadolu Agency's support was a source of morale in the TRNC's struggle for prosperity.

Anadolu Agency will grow in parallel with the Republic of Turkey, which is growing and strengthening every day, he added.

Also, Minister of Economy and Energy Hasan Tacoy on Twitter marked the 100th anniversary of the agency, which was founded by Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, saying it was a pioneering news wire that raised the voice of Turkish Cypriots.

The news agency currently publishes reports in Turkish, English, Arabic, Russian, French, Spanish, Kurdish/Kurmanji, Kurdish/Sorani, Persian, Indonesian, Bosnian, Albanian and Macedonian.

As a global news agency, Anadolu Agency is among the ten most influential media outlets in the world, providing its subscribers in 90 countries thousands of news stories, photos, videos, infographics and other information-based content through its global network of correspondents and photojournalists in 86 countries.
