Hayrunnisa Ersoy, the middle of the 3 children of the Şaban-Hasret Ersoy couple, was born at 32 weeks weighing 2 kilograms 50 grams. Because she was a premature baby, Hayrunnisa, who was treated in an incubator for a while after birth, was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy (brain paralysis) when she was 1.5 months old. Hayrunnisa started walking at the age of 7 thanks to the surgery she underwent, physical therapy, and sports related to her treatment. Then she started primary school, and Hayrunnisa is currently studying in the 6th grade at Fatih Sultan Mehmet Secondary School.
I LOVE READING VERY MUCH
Hayrunnisa, who comes to school and goes home with her mother's help, said her dream is to become a doctor. Hayrunnisa said, "I love my school and reading very much. Because of my illness, I never think of leaving school halfway. I want to study and become a doctor."
CARRIED IN ARMS UNTIL AGE 6
Mother Hasret Ersoy said, "With my daughter's efforts, we have made great progress in her development so far. Until she was 6, we carried her in our arms. This should be an example to other mothers. They should not step aside saying, 'I have a disabled child.' The more mothers do not give up, the better it will be for the children. We have not deprived my daughter of anything. I bring her to school and take her home every day. Besides that, I take her to physical therapy and sports. Her teacher also says her lessons are good. She wants to become a doctor. I hope she will in the future as well. As a family, we want her to become a doctor and succeed," she said.
SCHOOL PRINCIPAL OPENED AN ACCESSIBLE RESTROOM
Stating that conveniences were provided for her daughter at school as well, Ersoy said, "School Principal Menderes Ceylan helped make my daughter's classroom on the ground floor and opposite the restroom. He also opened an accessible restroom for us. When a person sees at school things they have not experienced, it makes them even more emotional. Thank goodness, he never deprived us of education. Our teachers are also very good. So that my daughter does not have difficulty walking among the crowd when school lets out, they allow her to leave the classroom shortly before the bell. I am grateful to all of them," she said.
