A worrying assessment came from former footballer Can Arat regarding the injury of Marco Asensio, whom Fenerbahçe announced will undergo surgery. Stating that he had experienced the same injury, Arat suggested that a difficult process may await the yellow-navy star, saying, "It can bring you to the point of quitting football."

Developments regarding Marco Asensio's injury at Fenerbahçe remain on the agenda. While the yellow-navy club announced that the Spanish footballer will undergo surgery due to a cartilage lesion in his knee, former Fenerbahçe footballer Can Arat's statements drew attention.

SURGERY DECISION MADE

Fenerbahçe Club Doctor Ahmet Kulduk announced that a cartilage lesion was detected behind Asensio's kneecap and that, as a result of the evaluations, a decision was made to perform surgical intervention.

Kulduk stated that they consulted with experts in Turkey as well as the doctor who had previously performed the Spanish player's surgery, and said the surgery was planned in line with the player's opinion.

"IT CAN BRING HIM TO THE POINT OF QUITTING FOOTBALL"

Can Arat, who once wore the Fenerbahçe jersey, used striking statements regarding Asensio's injury in a post on his social media account.

Arat said, "From the outside it looks like he'll have surgery and return in a few months, but a cartilage lesion is a footballer's biggest nightmare and can bring him to the point of quitting football."

"I AM SAYING THIS AS SOMEONE WHO HAS EXPERIENCED IT FIRSTHAND"

The former footballer, stating that he had experienced the same injury himself, used the following statements in the continuation of his explanation:

"I am saying this as someone who has personally experienced that never-ending cycle of fluid and edema after that surgery; Asensio's job is not easy at all. I hope he gets through this difficult process. Get well soon, Asensio!"

This assessment by Can Arat based on his personal experience does not mean Asensio will end his football career. The Spanish player's return process to the pitch will become clear with post-surgery medical evaluations.
