The trial regarding the murder of former Ülkü Ocakları President Sinan Ateş has been postponed until tomorrow. At the end of the hearing, the shooter Eray Özyağcı turned to the journalists following the court proceedings and made a "trigger" gesture with his hand.

TRIAL ADJOURNED UNTIL TOMORROW

The hearing for the case concerning the murder of former Ülkü Ocakları President and Hacettepe University Faculty Member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sinan Ateş continued today. In the trial held at the Ankara 32nd High Criminal Court, a total of 22 defendants, including 12 in custody, are being tried. Due to the hearing starting at 09:30, extensive security measures were taken around the prison. Traffic police and riot police were deployed on the roads leading to the prison, while numerous police vehicles, water cannons, and riot police were on standby in front of the prison. In addition to the prison perimeter, many police, gendarmerie, and prison staff took precautions in the courtroom where the hearing was held.

The trial's portion for today has concluded. The decision hearing will continue tomorrow morning at 09:00. According to Cumhuriyet writer Barış Pehlivan, who was present in the courtroom, at the end of the hearing, the hitman Eray Özyağcı, one of the detained defendants, made a gun gesture with his hand towards Pehlivan and others.

VIDEO RECORDINGS OF THE MURDER MOMENT HAVE ARRIVED

In the hearing held at the Sincan Penal Institutions Campus by the Ankara 32nd High Criminal Court, defendants, attorneys for the parties, and Sinan Ateş's wife, complainant Ayşe Ateş, and relatives attended. Court President Mehmet Güven announced that the expert report regarding the video recording of the murder moment had arrived during the recess, and that defendants wishing to do so could make statements regarding the report.

JOURNALISTS WITHOUT PRESS CARDS NOT ADMITTED TO THE HEARING

Meanwhile, journalists without press cards were not admitted to the courtroom. In response to a question from the lawyers, Court President Güven stated, "Only those with press cards are considered as press members. The Presidency decides who the press cards are issued to. We do not have the authority. We cannot exceed our authority by saying 'this is also a press member.'

OBJECTION TO THE EXPERT REPORT

Detained defendant Doğukan Çep, who made a statement against the expert report, said, "Although Selman Bozkurt was shot in the right shoulder, it was written that he was shot in the left shoulder. The report does not mention the witness in the car or the dust bouncing off the ground. At least they could have written those." Detained defendant Doğukan Çep's lawyer Emine Tosun also stated that they do not accept the expert report, saying, "Selman Bozkurt was shot from his right, not his left. I have also filed a criminal complaint against the expert in question and I request the rejection of this expert report." Other defendant lawyers also objected to the expert report. Meanwhile, defendant Mustafa Ensar Aykal's lawyer Aziz Bingöl requested that the hearing be held in closed session, but the panel rejected the request.
