An investigation has been launched in Germany against an elderly German couple who racially and sexually insulted two Turkish sisters, aged 22 and 13, at a train station. In footage of the incident captured on a mobile phone camera, the German woman is heard telling the young girls, 'I wish you would be raped constantly.' The video has sparked widespread outrage across the country.
Police have launched an investigation into an elderly German couple accused of using racist and sexually explicit slurs against 22-year-old Maside P. and her 13-year-old sister Hümeyra P. at Bestwig Train Station in Germany's Hochsauerland region.
"I WISH YOU WERE CONSTANTLY RAPED" Part of the verbal argument that began at the train station was captured on a mobile phone camera. The footage shows the parties arguing with each other, with the elderly couple heard using racist remarks towards the young women.
The elderly German couple is seen telling the young women, "We should send you back home on the first plane," and as the argument progressed, the elderly woman is heard saying, "I wish you were constantly raped." The footage shows Maside P. responding to these words with "Thank you."
After the footage of the incident was shared on social media and quickly garnered thousands of shares and comments, the Hochsauerland Regional Police launched an investigation into the matter. It was reported that police are investigating the identities of the individuals in the footage and whether the expressions used constitute a crime under German law.

"IT'S NOT SOMETHING ONE CAN COMPREHEND" Osman Yusuf, the cousin of the young people who brought the incident to the social media agenda and the Deputy Chair of the Social Democratic Party (SPD) Overath Council Group, reacted to what happened.
Yusuf, who drew attention to the fact that one of the victims is 13 years old, said, "What horrifies me the most is that a retired German couple could say these words to two young people, one of whom is a 13-year-old child. Especially saying 'I wish you were constantly raped' is not something one can comprehend. Unfortunately, we still encounter racist incidents in Germany."
Yusuf stated that these expressions directed at a 22-year-old young woman and a 13-year-old child cannot be excused for any reason, saying, "There can be no excuse for such a statement."
Osman Yusuf "CONCERNING FROM A SOCIAL PERSPECTIVE" Yusuf, who noted that solidarity messages came from different segments of society after the footage was published, criticized that focusing on what happened before the incident pushed the words the victims were subjected to into the background. Expressing that his cousin and her 13-year-old sister being subjected to heavy words in the region where he spent his childhood and youth personally shook him, Yusuf said the incident is also concerning from a social perspective.
Yusuf also drew attention to the "Stadtbild" (cityscape) debate recently discussed in Germany, noting that it is thought-provoking for him that the incident occurred approximately 30 kilometers from the home of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
