The Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) announced that strong rain transitions are expected in the European side of the city starting from 08:00 this morning, and from noon onwards in the Bosphorus area and the Anatolian side.
It was reported that with the storm expected to show its effects from the morning hours, temperatures are predicted to drop below 5 degrees and fall to levels that will remind of winter months.

WARNING FROM THE ISTANBUL GOVERNORATE
In a statement made from the governorate's social media account, it was stated that according to the General Directorate of Meteorology, a new cold and rainy weather is expected to affect Turkey starting from the northwestern (Thrace) regions on Monday, April 7.
The statement noted that the air temperatures, which are currently around seasonal norms, are expected to decrease throughout the week, starting from the Thrace region (Edirne, Kırklareli, and Tekirdağ) on Monday, dropping to 5 to 7 degrees below seasonal norms in the general region, and 7 to 9 degrees below seasonal norms in the inner and high areas.
YELLOW CODE WARNING FOR MARMARA AND AEGEAN
The General Directorate of Meteorology (MGM) issued a yellow code warning for heavy rainfall for Aydın, Balıkesir, Bursa, Çanakkale, Edirne, Istanbul, Izmir, Kırklareli, Manisa, and Tekirdağ.
Between April 7-13, 2025, it is predicted that the lowest air temperatures will drop to the values indicated below.

ANKARA WILL DROP BELOW ZERO
According to a statement shared on the social media account of the Ankara Governorate, based on the data from the Analysis and Forecast Center of the General Directorate of Meteorology, it is expected that air temperatures in the city will drop 5 to 10 degrees below seasonal norms, and the lowest air temperature is expected to be minus 2 degrees until April 12.
With the cold weather, it is predicted that mixed rain and snow will be seen in the province, especially in high areas.
In the statement, citizens were warned about adverse conditions such as snowfall, icing, and sudden drops in nighttime temperatures leading to agricultural frost.
SNOWFALL HAS STARTED IN EDIRNE
After the warning made by the MGM Istanbul Forecast and Early Warning Center for Thrace, rain turned into snowfall in Keşan after midnight. With the precipitation, vehicles and roofs were covered with a white blanket. Citizens shared images of the snow falling in April from their balconies and windows on social media. In the district where the air temperature is 3 degrees, police teams also increased their inspections against possible accidents. Snowfall is also effective in the high areas of Edirne. It is expected that the snowfall will continue intermittently.
