In Esenler, 17-year-old Derviş G., who argued with a group gathered for a soldier's celebration, rained bullets on the crowd. 17-year-old Yusuf Arda Özer, hit by the bullets, lost his life after a 14-day struggle at the hospital. As the 17-year-old murder suspect was arrested, the slain youth's friend said, 'He's not old enough for a driver's license. He fired at everyone. A stray bullet hit Yusuf.'
In İstanbul's Esenler district, on Tuna Street in Tuna Neighborhood, a soldier farewell celebration held on April 19 ended in murder.
17-YEAR-OLD ATTACKER FIRED A HAIL OF BULLETS
Young people gathered for the soldier farewell celebration argued with Derviş G. (17), who was speeding through the neighborhood in a vehicle. Shortly after, Derviş G. returned to the scene on foot and fired a hail of bullets into the crowd.
YOUNG MAN LOST HIS LIFE
One of the bullets struck 17-year-old Yusuf Arda Özer. Rushed to the hospital in critical condition, Özer lost his fight for life after 14 days.
Yusuf Arda Özer's body was brought to the Forensic Medicine Institute today for autopsy procedures. His family, who received the child's body, broke down in tears.
MURDER SUSPECT ARRESTED
Suspect Derviş G. was caught as a result of police work. Referred to the courthouse, the suspect was arrested and sent to prison.

Family relative Muhammet Dündar recounted the events, saying, "There was a soldier farewell celebration for the young men. During a fight, another kid brought his gun. He fired at the kid he was fighting, but the bullet hit Yusuf. Yusuf was innocent. We waited 14 days in the hospital. Then came the news of his death."
"HE HAS NO LICENSE, NO PERMIT"
Yusuf Arda Özer's friend who was with him during the attack, Yusuf Can, said, "He has no driver's license, no permit. He's not even old enough. He was driving around and picking fights with everyone. An argument started. He brought a gun and started shooting at everyone. At that moment, a stray bullet hit Yusuf. He was in intensive care for 14 days. He couldn't hold on any longer."
Yusuf Arda Özer will be laid to rest in Esenler.
