The congress debates that began in the CHP after the absolute nullity decision are moving to a new phase. While figures close to Özgür Özel are preparing to deliver the signatures of approximately one thousand delegates to the headquarters for the convening of the extraordinary congress, the Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu team argues that the congress cannot be held until the court decision is finalized.
FIRST OFFICIAL STEP FROM ÖZEL'S TEAM
The first official step in the congress debates that began after the absolute nullity decision in the CHP will be taken tomorrow. Figures close to Özgür Özel will deliver to the CHP headquarters the signatures of approximately one thousand delegates they have collected to call for an extraordinary congress within 45 days.
The Özel camp argues that the congress can be convened at the request of delegates in accordance with the provisions of the party's bylaws.
OBJECTION FROM KILIÇDAROĞLU'S TEAM
Figures close to Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, however, claim that the extraordinary congress cannot be held because the court decision has not been finalized. The Kılıçdaroğlu team argues that a new congress process cannot be initiated until the legal process regarding the change of party leadership is completed.
If the signatures are not accepted by the headquarters, a new legal debate is expected to begin within the CHP.
REGULAR CONGRESS TIMELINE INITIATED
Meanwhile, the CHP headquarters has initiated the regular congress process. The party administration plans to spread the congress process over a timeline of approximately 6 to 7 months, along with provincial and district congresses.
The headquarters also keeps on the agenda the view that the court decision must be finalized for the congress to convene.
CHANGE IN DEPUTY CHAIRMANSHIP
Following the developments in the party, the duties of Group Deputy Chairs Ali Mahir Başarır and Gökhan Günaydın have ended. It has been learned that İzmir Deputy Sevda Erdan Kılıç and Kars Deputy İnan Akgün Alp are expected to be appointed to these positions.
