At least 30 people lost their lives in a stampede during an Easter event held at the Citadelle Laferrière, a UNESCO World Heritage site in northern Haiti. Authorities warned that the death toll could rise.

THE SINGLE ENTRY-EXIT POINT LED TO THE STAMPEDE

Haitian media announced that a large number of tourists attended the traditional Easter event held at the historic Laferriere Fortress in the north of the country. It was stated that the organizers opening only a single entry-exit point to control the crowd led to the stampede. As a result of the stampede, it was recorded that 30 people lost their lives and many others were injured. Authorities warned that the death toll could rise.
