At least 7 people died and many were injured in a stampede at a temple in Bihar state in eastern India.

CROWD DENSITY AT TEMPLE CAUSED PANIC

According to a statement made by senior police official Shivam Kumar to local media, the incident occurred on Monday at the Ashok Dham Temple in the Lakhisarai district, approximately 125 kilometers southeast of the state capital Patna.

According to initial information, panic broke out in the crowd after an electric wire snapped. A stampede occurred following the panic. It was reported that an investigation into the exact cause of the incident is ongoing.

TEAMS DEPLOYED TO THE SCENE

It was stated that local government officials and police teams quickly arrived at the area to carry out rescue operations and bring the crowd at the scene under control.

Authorities reported that a large number of people were present at the temple for worship at the time of the incident.
