Fenerbahçe made a statement regarding the fight that took place after the tough derby against Galatasaray in the Süper Lig last night, which was lost 2-1.
''WE STRONGLY CONDEMN THE ATTACKS''
In the statement made on Fenerbahçe's social media accounts, it was said, "We strongly condemn the verbal and physical attacks against our players in the derby match played last night."
The statement from the yellow-navy team is as follows:
“We strongly condemn the verbal and physical attacks against our players in the derby match played last night.
The incidents that began with the verbal attack on Kerem Aktürkoğlu, escalated with Serhat Doğan from Galatasaray's analysis team attacking Matteo Guendouzi, and continued with Abdülkerim Bardakçı pulling our player's hair are unacceptable.
The competition and tension of the derby do not give anyone the right to attack our players. What happened cannot be glossed over by calling it "derby tension." This attitude of members of the opposing team has fueled the incidents instead of reducing the tension.
At a time when Turkish football needs calm, while our club acts responsibly, these behaviors, which do not befit the hospitality of a winning team, must not go unpunished.
The actions of everyone involved in the incidents must be examined completely, and necessary disciplinary sanctions must be applied to those responsible without any discrimination.
The way to prevent violence in Turkish football is not to leave those responsible unpunished.”
