The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has updated the list of counterfeit and adulterated products as a result of inspections conducted to ensure food safety. During the food inspections, chicken heads were found in sausage, offal in meatballs, and poultry meat in minced pide filling.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry continues to share with the public the inappropriate products identified as a result of inspections aimed at ensuring citizens' access to safe food. New products have been added to the lists of "Foods That Will Endanger Health" and "Imitation and Adulterated Foods," which are regularly published on the ministry's website.
CHICKEN HEAD USED IN SAUSAGE
As a result of food inspections, serious issues were found in some meat products. According to the list announced by the ministry on '04.02.2025'; chicken heads were detected in some sausage samples, while offal (heart) was found in meatballs. It was revealed that poultry meat was present in minced pide fillings.
SEEDS IN BAKLAVA INSTEAD OF PISTACHIOS
Olive oil, which is among the products most commonly adulterated, was also included in the list. It was found that seed oil was mixed with olive oil, and sunflower seeds were used instead of pistachios in baklava.
FRAUD IN CHEESE, BUTTER, AND YOGURT
It was announced that the fat content in cheese, butter, and yogurt was low and that vegetable oil was mixed in. Additionally, it was determined that starch was added to yogurt.
