A commemorative event for the 75th anniversary of NATO was held in Washington, the capital of the United States. Speaking at the meeting, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg stated, "We cannot allow Russia to win against Ukraine." Following Stoltenberg's remarks, US President Joe Biden promised additional air defense support to Ukraine.
NATO countries came together in Washington, the capital of the United States, for the 75th anniversary commemoration event. The leaders of the countries participating in the NATO Summit first took a group photo at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium.
Then, a video with visuals on many topics from the Second World War to the establishment of NATO, from the Bosnian War to the Ukrainian War, was shown.
At the end of the video, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg spoke. Stoltenberg emphasized that he has great respect for the North Atlantic Treaty and highlighted that peace is preserved thanks to the treaty.
"WE CANNOT ALLOW RUSSIA TO WIN"
Stoltenberg, stating that NATO is the most successful alliance in history, also mentioned the Ukrainian War. Stoltenberg said, "We cannot allow Russia to win against Ukraine." He argued that otherwise, this would encourage other authoritarian regimes.
BIDEN PROMISES AIR DEFENSE SUPPORT TO UKRAINE
After Stoltenberg, US President Joe Biden spoke. Biden promised air defense support to Ukraine and said, "I want to announce that we will make a historic donation for Ukraine's air defense. The US, Germany, the Netherlands, Romania, and Italy will provide equipment for an additional 5 strategic air defense systems to Ukraine. In the coming months, the US and its partners will also provide Ukraine with dozens of additional tactical air defense systems."
"WITH OUR SUPPORT, UKRAINE WILL STOP RUSSIA"
Biden also stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin will not stop with Ukraine. Biden said, "But know this, Ukraine will stop Russia with our collective support." The American President presented the "Presidential Medal of Freedom" to NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg. President Erdogan also attended NATO's 75th anniversary commemoration event.
