In the investigation of Gülistan Doku, who has been missing in Tunceli since 2020, the statement of Celal Altaş, the father of Umut Altaş, who was detained, drew attention. Altaş, stating that his son was close friends with Mustafa Türkay Sonel, the son of the then Tunceli Governor Tuncay Sonel, said, "I heard directly from my son that Mustafa Türkay once took out his gun in my presence and said, 'I shot someone with this gun.'"
In Tunceli, operations were carried out in 7 provinces with suspicion of murder in the investigation of Gülistan Doku, a 2nd-year student in the Child Development Department of Munzur University who has been missing since January 5, 2020, and 13 people were detained. The statement given by Celal Altaş, the father of Umut Altaş, a close friend of the then Tunceli Governor Tuncay Sonel, at the prosecutor's office has emerged.
"I HEARD THE WORDS 'I SHOT SOMEONE' FROM MY SON"
Stating that he did not know the level of his son's relationship with Gülistan, Altaş said he heard from his son that Mustafa Türkay Sonel carried a gun. In Celal Altaş's statement, it was learned that he said, "I personally heard from my son the words, 'Once, the police even fired shots at point K. Mustafa Türkay once took out his gun next to me and said, 'I shot someone with this gun.'"
"MY SON IS CLEARLY HIDING SOMETHING"
Noting that his son knew something but was not talking, Altaş said, "My son is clearly hiding something. He is afraid of something. He may have witnessed something." Meanwhile, he could not provide a clear explanation as to why Umut called Gülistan Doku's sister, Aygül Doku, three times. Celal Altaş stated that he thought his son Umut might have called Aygül Doku not of his own will but under the direction of Mustafa Türkay Sonel, saying, "Türkay may have used my son in this matter and had him call Aygül."
"I NEED A LARGE AMOUNT OF MONEY, I AM BEING THREATENED"
Saying that he thought his son might be under threat in the USA, Celal Altaş conveyed that Umut told him, "I need a large amount of money, I am being threatened." Celal Altaş stated that his son Umut entered Mexico illegally in 2023 and also crossed into the USA illegally.
"CAMERA RECORDINGS HAVE BEEN DELETED"
The "camera recording" detail also drew attention in Celal Altaş's statement. It was learned that Altaş, while conveying that he said in his meeting with Aygül Doku, "Camera recordings have been deleted, hospital records have been deleted," stated that if the records were deleted, this could only be possible with the direction or instruction of the provincial governor of that city.
