During a visit to the MHP, Tülay Hatimoğulları from the DEM Party referred to the terrorist leader as "Mr. Öcalan," which drew attention to MHP member Semih Yalçın lowering his head at that moment. Hours after this incident, a noteworthy statement came from MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli. Bahçeli stated, "We have no shortcomings or deficiencies that would make us ashamed, embarrassed, or cause us to lower our heads."

After the call for "laying down arms" made by PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan following the statement of MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, the DEM Party met with the MHP delegation yesterday. MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli did not attend the meeting. After the meeting, the delegations of MHP and DEM Party faced the cameras. DEM Party Co-Chair Tülay Hatimoğulları stated, "We discussed Mr. Öcalan's call and the process. We will make our detailed statement after completing all our meetings. Mr. Bahçeli would have been here if his health conditions were suitable, and we send our best wishes to him." The moment Hatimoğulları referred to 'Mr. Öcalan', MHP member Semih Yalçın bowing his head drew attention on social media. Later, Yalçın, who took the floor, stated, "It was a very beneficial meeting" regarding the visit of the DEM Party.
"WE HAVE NO REASON TO HANG OUR HEADS"
While Semih Yalçın's image was widely discussed, a striking statement came from Bahçeli. In his message on the occasion of March 18 Çanakkale Victory Day, he stated, "I especially remind the figures of black propaganda and dirty campaigns that we have no reason to be ashamed, to feel embarrassed, or to hang our heads."
MHP Leader Devlet Bahçeli reiterated the emphasis on a terrorism-free Turkey in his social media post regarding the March 18 Çanakkale Victory. In his message, Bahçeli included the following statements:
Çanakkale is not only one of our 81 provinces but also the world's largest martyrdom, a scene of struggle and resistance where faith and will have become monumental. The treacherous and bloody siege of oppressive tyranny, conflicting cruelty, and branded disgrace has been broken with the distilled sacrifice and selflessness, overturning the rotten colonial calculations that covet our sacred homeland with the blood of martyrs and many heroic epics. 110 years ago, the powerful and vigilant stance of national unity and solidarity in Çanakkale prevented the violation of our last homeland, turning colonial ambitions and targets into rubble. Understanding the spirit of Çanakkale first and then narrating it for generations, moreover, realizing with a vigilant consciousness that enemy ambitions are always on alert and watchful is a tremendous and honorable service to the existence of the Turkish nation and state. The suns said to have sunk for a crescent have essentially illuminated our independence and future in a dignified manner and have opened the curtains drawn over our radiant horizon one by one.
"OUR SACRED MARTYRS WHO SACRIFICED THEIR MORTAL LIVES FOR THE HOMELAND, NATION, AND FLAG..."
The naval and land victories won in various neighborhoods, channels, and regions of Çanakkale have become the preface, the facade, and a kind of herald of the Republic of Turkey. The necessity of fundamentally changing the deadly global and regional scenarios has not only affected the balances and dynamics of subsequent years but has also essentially determined and transformed today's world in military, political, and strategic terms. Our sacred martyrs, who sacrificed their mortal lives for the homeland, nation, flag, sacred values, and national honor, did not leave life in vain, nor did they fall to the ground for no reason. Our martyrs are the spiritual guardians of our existence, our heroes who knew how to die within death. Therefore, it is absolutely out of the question for us to be on the edge, corner, or within any network that would distress the souls of our martyrs; ultimately, such a historical deviation is equivalent to an insult and disrespect to the consciousness of Çanakkale.
"INDEPENDENCE WALL HAS BEEN BUILT BY RESISTING WITH BLOOD"
While defending the Turkish homeland, no one’s origin has been questioned, no one’s sect has been scrutinized, and no one’s region and ethnic identity has aroused curiosity. The Turkish nation has united, indeed, it has bonded as one heart, gathering body by body against hostile forces, giving life for life, and resisting with blood to build an independence wall that was a raw dream. The love for the homeland and the belonging to the nation cannot be politicized or exploited. The descendants of those who achieved a Turkey without enemies will build and revive a Turkey without terrorism. I especially remind the figures of black propaganda and dirty campaigns that we have no reason to be ashamed, to feel embarrassed, or to hang our heads.
"THEY WILL NOT TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THE MANUFACTURED POLITICAL MERCHANTS"
Under the guidance of the spirit of Çanakkale, those who aim to strengthen and solidify our national unity and brotherhood, just as water nourishes steel, will never achieve results against those who target Turkish and Turkey lovers with baseless and vile accusations; they will not be able to turn us back from the path we believe in and progress on. The perception games of the clowns who have not internalized Çanakkale are worthless and null and void. History will one day write how genuine and sincere Turkish nationalists fought for the homeland, nation, and common destiny. In those pages of history, today’s examples of rhetoric and insult will not even be taken into account as footnotes by the manufactured and controlled political merchants from whom we have long been ideologically, practically, physically, verbally, and politically separated. As long as the epic of Çanakkale lives in the hearts of the Turkish nation, as long as there are patriotic individuals who embrace it, I believe that the internal and external fronts that failed in the past will not achieve results today either. With these feelings; on the 110th anniversary of the March 18 Martyrs' Remembrance Day and the Çanakkale Naval Victory, I commemorate our sacred martyrs who made our lands a homeland with their pure blood with feelings of gratitude. I pray for mercy from Allah for our esteemed ancestors, especially Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, who embraced our struggle for independence and existence with magnificent courage and dedication. May their souls be blessed, and their places be paradise.
