Eighty-year-old Ramazan Yıldırım, who was receiving treatment at a hospital in Elbistan, Kahramanmaraş, was assaulted and attempted to be strangled by his son. The footage of the suspect, who was arrested after the incident, sparked a strong public reaction.
The incident that occurred in the Elbistan district of Kahramanmaraş drew great public reaction. 80-year-old Ramazan Yıldırım, who was receiving treatment in the Palliative Care Unit of Elbistan State Hospital, was attacked by his son Hasan Yıldırım.
The incident took place in the hospital room the night before last. Hasan Yıldırım, who came to visit his father, assaulted him while he was in bed and attempted to strangle him. Upon notification, gendarmerie teams took action.
"I HAD NO THOUGHT OF STRANGLING"
During the incident, a gendarmerie personnel recorded the room from outside the hospital with a mobile phone. The footage captured moments of Hasan Yıldırım applying violence to his father in bed. Hasan Yıldırım, who was taken into custody, stated in his testimony that he was taking care of his father and said, "I slapped him in a moment of anger. However, I had no thought of strangling him."
HE WAS SENT TO PRISON
Hasan Yıldırım, who was referred to the courthouse, was arrested by the court he was brought before and sent to prison. The investigation regarding the incident is ongoing.
