Theater actor Şerif Avcı, who disguised himself as a female beggar in Erzurum, surprised the municipal police officers who came to take him away after a report. Avcı, who opened his face covered with a traditional shawl, said, 'Happy Municipal Police Week.' The officers, who experienced a brief moment of shock, cut the cake prepared for them amid applause. The money Avcı collected in just half an hour drew attention.
Oktay Parlar, the director of Erzurum Metropolitan Municipality City Theater, and actor Şerif Avcı prepared a surprise for municipal police officers on the occasion of the 1-7 September Municipal Police Week. Oktay Parlar brought his friend Şerif Avcı, disguised as a female beggar, to the front of Lala Paşa Mosque and then called the 153 hotline. Parlar reported that the female beggar was disturbing the congregation.
HAPPY MUNICIPAL POLICE WEEK
Upon the report, about 10 municipal police officers, including one woman, quickly arrived at the mosque courtyard. As the officers tried to take her away, saying, "You must absolutely not beg here; our citizens and mosque congregation are disturbed," Şerif Avcı stood up, uncovered his face hidden by a traditional ehram garment, and shouted, "Happy Municipal Police Week."
Theater actor Oktay Parlar, accompanied by applause and bursts of confetti, celebrated the officers' week with a cake bearing the inscription 'Happy 200th Municipal Police Week'. The municipal police officers, surprised by the unexpected event in front of the mosque, thanked the theater actors for their thoughtful gesture.

Municipal police chief Cafer Aktaş, stating that they came to the mosque front upon the report received on the 153 hotline, said, "Upon the report of beggars in the Lala Paşa Mosque courtyard, we moved to the area with our teams as we always do. Instead of the usual scenarios we encounter, we were greeted with a surprise prepared by our theater friends for Municipal Police Week. I thank them all for their efforts."

Theater actor Şerif Avcı, stating that they decided to surprise the municipal police officers during a rehearsal of a play they were preparing, said, "We said every profession has a special day. There is Journalists' Day, there is a day for police officers. We noticed that there aren't many celebrations during Municipal Police Week. So we said let's surprise our municipal police officers. The role of the beggar fell to me. We wanted to celebrate their day. Good thing they exist. Meanwhile, it wasn't unappealing; 400 lira in half an hour, 45 minutes was good money. We were not unfamiliar with confusion for a moment. But of course, we are able-bodied. With God's permission, working and earning money is more enjoyable."
