The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an ex officio investigation against the individual using the username "Kuzey" (@kavrukkuzey) on Instagram for insulting Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin and the sacred values of the Turkish nation. The Chief Prosecutor's Office ordered the identification and detention of the suspect, citing that the statements in the post constitute the crimes of "insulting a public official due to their duties" and "denigrating the Turkish nation, the Republic of Turkey, and the state's institutions and organs."
The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an ex officio investigation into an individual who, using the alias "Kuzey" on the social media platform Instagram, made severe insults against Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin and the sacred values of the Turkish nation. The Chief Prosecutor's Office ordered the suspect's detention.
TARGETED MINISTER TEKIN WITH SCANDALOUS VIDEO
In the footage that drew reactions on social media, the user with the alias "Kuzey" (@kavrukkuzey) hurled curses at Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin's statements regarding the curriculum.
The suspect was also seen targeting the heroes of the national struggle and statesmen in his post.
DETENTION ORDER ISSUED AT BREAKNECK SPEED
Following these scandalous images, the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office pressed the button in accordance with the relevant articles of the Turkish Penal Code.
In a statement from the Chief Prosecutor's Office, it was stated, "Due to the expressions in the video content shared by the user of the Instagram account with the alias 'Kuzey (@kavrukkuzey)' constituting the crime of insulting a public official due to their duty, regulated in Article 125/3-a of the TPC, and the crime of denigrating the Turkish nation, the Republic of Türkiye, and the state's institutions and organs, regulated in Article 301 of the TPC, an ex officio investigation has been initiated by our Chief Prosecutor's Office."
The judicial authorities ordered the identification of the said person and his immediate detention within the scope of the crime of "insulting a public official due to their duty."
