Tanju Çolak, one of the legendary names of Turkish football, announced his candidacy for the presidency of the Turkish Football Federation (TFF), arguing that Turkish football should be governed by people who come from within football.
European top scorer and former Golden Boot-winning footballer Tanju Çolak made striking statements on the Kral Analiz program broadcast on TYT Türk.
ANNOUNCED HIS CANDIDACY FOR TFF PRESIDENCY
Stating that Turkish football should be governed by people who come from within football, Tanju Çolak announced that he is a candidate for the TFF presidency.
''WHAT ARE WE LACKING?''
Pointing to the basketball and wrestling federations as examples, Tanju Çolak said, ''Who runs basketball? Hidayet Türkoğlu. Who runs wrestling? My brother Taha. So why shouldn't footballers run Turkish football? What are we lacking? We have our knowledge, our air, our ideas, our humanity, and our tolerance. We are closer to football, more sincere. We embrace all clubs, we share their troubles. We can continue in line with the clubs. If the MHK makes a mistake, we will immediately do what is necessary.''
''LET THOSE WHO COME FROM WITHIN FOOTBALL GOVERN''
Continuing his words, Tanju Çolak said, ''Friends, we need to be very clear and explicit. Let those who come from within football govern football. Do those who come understand football? Where have they played? Are they professional? There isn't even anyone who played amateur. Why shouldn't Turkish footballers govern Turkish football? In every match, 15-16 foreigners and only 3 Turkish players will play. I will increase this to 5, 6. No footballers are being raised; who will they take as examples?'' he stated.
