A new controversy has been added to the ongoing dispute between Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan and Düzce Mayor Faruk Özlü. Most recently, during a municipal council session, Özcan responded to Özlü by saying, "I am a cheesy politician, and a double cheesy one at that. While he was leaving, we were turning back from that road."
The social media polemic between CHP's Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan and AK Party's Düzce Mayor Dr. Faruk Özlü has taken a new turn. Düzce Mayor Özlü announced that a road will be opened from Düzce to the natural beauties of Bolu, namely Abant Lake National Park and Yedigöller National Park.
"WHERE DOES THE NAME DÜZCE COME FROM?"
In response to this statement, Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan answered Özlü during the first session of the Municipal Council in December. Referring to Faruk Özlü's previous statement suggesting "the name of Bolu Mountain should be Düzce Mountain," Tanju Özcan said, "The water lines in Düzce will be changed so that there won't be questions like 'Why hasn't it changed?' That's why he keeps bothering Bolu. No, 'the name of Bolu Mountain should be Düzce Mountain.' Well, brother, where does the name Düzce come from? It comes from being flat. Now, two-thirds of Mount Ağrı is in Iğdır. The people of Iğdır never say, 'Let's call it Iğdır Mountain instead of Mount Ağrı.' One-third of Bolu Mountain remains within the administrative borders of Düzce. Why do these discussions arise?"
"I AM A CHEESY POLITICIAN, AND A DOUBLE CHEESY ONE AT THAT"
Continuing his remarks, Özcan stated, "Düzce Mayor should know that I am a cheesy politician," adding, "And a double cheesy one. He may be a good bureaucrat and may have received a high education. But being a politician is a different thing. While he was going, we were turning back from that road. Therefore, when there are issues you don't want to be discussed in Düzce, throw it to Bolu. We respond as well. And he is also gaining followers on social media through me. My friends warned me, I no longer respond, but I congratulate those who do."
