A teacher working in the Edremit district of Balıkesir was suspended from duty on the grounds that they used insulting statements against the Turkish flag and Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic. The Balıkesir Governorship announced that proceedings were immediately initiated against the teacher and that a detention order was implemented by the Edremit Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

THE TEACHER'S INSULTING STATEMENTS WERE DETECTED

After the allegations, an investigation was launched into the teacher. In a statement on the matter, the Balıkesir Governorship announced that the teacher's insulting statements had been detected. The Governorship stated that the statements in question were unacceptable and reported that administrative and judicial proceedings had been initiated against the person concerned.
EDREMİT DISTRICT GOVERNORSHIP SUSPENDED HIM FROM DUTY
The first administrative action against the teacher was implemented by the Edremit District Governorship. According to the Governorship's statement, the teacher, who was found to have used insulting statements toward the Turkish flag and Atatürk, was immediately suspended from duty. The suspension was implemented as an administrative measure taken within the scope of the ongoing process.
THE CHIEF PUBLIC PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE STEPPED IN
Following the Edremit District Governorship's suspension, a judicial process was also initiated regarding the incident. The teacher was taken into custody by the Edremit Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. Thus, both administrative and judicial proceedings were implemented over the allegations of insulting the Turkish flag and Atatürk.
STATEMENT FROM THE BALIKESİR GOVERNORSHIP
In its statement regarding the incident, the Balıkesir Governorship announced to the public the decisions taken about the teacher. The Governorship's statement included the following statements: "It has been detected that a teacher working at a school in the Edremit district made unacceptable posts on social media insulting our sacred flag and Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of our Republic. An immediate suspension measure was applied against him by the Edremit District Governorship, and the person concerned was taken into custody by the Edremit Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. It is respectfully announced to the public."
