A chain-reaction traffic accident occurred at busy toll booths in northern Philippines. As a result of the crash, 10 people lost their lives and 30 were injured. While the injured were taken to the hospital, the bus driver responsible for the accident was taken into custody. Police stated that the driver had fallen asleep at the wheel and mentioned that among the deceased were four children. A statement from the Philippine Red Cross noted that three sports service vehicles and a container truck were also involved in the accident.

Meanwhile, the Department of Transportation ordered the suspension of activities of Solid North Bus, the owner of the vehicle involved in the accident, which is one of the major bus operators in the region. Additionally, it has been noted that drug use among bus drivers in the country is widespread. In April, the operations of some public transport companies, including buses and tricycles, were suspended after 84 drivers tested positive for drugs.
